During class we practiced the craft: describing the scene using sensory details as well as including vivid verbs and lots of adjectives.
Students have practiced crafts that will strengthen their writing challenge this week: Memoir writing: Personal narratives: Good beginnings,Sensory details, Varying sentence beginnings and Strong conclusions.
Be sure to check that you include:
Title- author-
5 paragraphs:
They are required to open the first paragraph using a describing the scene hook and including an end sentence or two that states the focus: I knew right away that..... I will never forget the........ use the model essay to help guide your format!
Three paragraphs written about specifics- giving lots of details. In the model essay the author chose friends, teacher and interesting things they did.
Conclusion paragraph; strong conclusion wraps up the writer's memoir. Refer to your homework practice for the craft of writing strong conclusions.
Use google slides and please send it to me. I will check during the week to help and give suggestions/comments. Please call me if you would like to go over anything as you are writing your memoir. I am more than glad to help! I will be available to do private zoom meetings if anyone needs support!

Remember to answer the question with complete sentences. You will get practice using pronouns. Example: What is your full name. Her full name is Mary McDonald. She is 35 years old. Mary currently lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
