Welcome! I am thrilled that you are checking out this site for information.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I am married and have four children, three daughters and one son. I have three daughters living in this area and a son who is currently living in Grand Rapids. I am also pleased to say that I became a grannie in 2005, the day before Mother's Day! We are enjoying the delights of twelve grand children, eight girls, and four boys! Being a Grannie and Papa exceeds all our expectations! We Praise God for all the many blessings that come with being grand parents.
I retired from teaching third grade at Mattawan Consolidated Schools in 2013. During my teaching I recognized a need to take professional development courses, in addition to working on the math and language art committees to help children deepen their enthusiasm for both writing and higher level mathematical problem solving. Helping children feel successful and confident in writing, reading, and math continues to be a passion of mine! After retirement, I continued to enjoy teaching for six years at KAT: Kalamazoo Area Tutoring and I am still blessed to work with many families in my home-based tutoring business with public and private school students. I have worked with students K-10th grade focusing on reading, writing and math. If you would like your student to work toward grade level or to help them prepare for higher level academic skills, I can help support their individual goals.
Last year when our school year was interrupted, I was able to quickly get on board Zoom so that students had a way to keep learning while they were home. Throughout this entire summer I have been helping many students prepare for entering a new school year. The added practice has proved to be a confidence boost as we reviewed prior knowledge and practiced new skills that students will be sure to see this year!
